the theme of GUILLOTINE'S third act is RECONSTRUCTION. here we see the oligarchs really step forward & throw our recent “burn it down” refrain in our faces & make their bank accounts even fatter, thwarting the perceived progress i think a lot of people felt we were making. covid halted our entire lives, killed nearly a million of us, put plenty more on the streets, & Jeff Bezos made enough money to go to space & retire in the same year. the murder of George Floyd & subsequent BLM marches helped expose the continued institutionalized racism of our police forces & the carceral system, but white nationalists became more fearless than ever. it feels like every day there are somehow hundreds more legal measures written into our legislation meant to keep rich people in power, even though the entire global financial institution is a scam. oh yeah & the planet is gonna roast us alive in a matter of decades.

life feels like one big lie & we all see it now. we know this isn’t sustainable. the problem is it’s easy to criticize this stuff from twitter & have well-earned panic attacks, but what are we doing to actually make meaningful change? scratching away at this kind of hydra by attempting incremental change & “voting blue no matter who” is not gonna make the leviathan volatile enough to fall. we could all go on strike, the entire 99 percent-—but i think after covid a lot of people have had their disobedience drained out of them. they just want to go back to the terrible status quo that was “normal.” the only other option i see is much more drastic. so the third act ends with me vowing to take real action. whatever it takes.
